SHERLINE CNC Rotary Indexer Riser Plate

P/N 8710

The dotted line shows the outline of the location of the rotary table. The three holes in the bottom of the table are countersunk to accept the heads of the screws that go into the bottom of the rotary table.

Purpose of the Indexer Riser Plate

When using the CNC rotary table on a Sherline mill, the stepper motor mount will normally overhang the edge of the table. The fact that the bottom of the stepper motor mount is a little below the bottom surface of the rotary table is of no consequence. However, when mounting the CNC rotary table on a large mill table or other flat fixture, the bottom of the stepper motor mount will keep the table from seating flat on the surface. This 1/2" thick plate raises the rotary table an amount sufficient that there will be no interference problem between the stepper motor or mount and the surface of the table.

Attaching the CNC Rotary Indexer

From the bottom of the rotary table, remove the two Socket Head Cap Screws (SHCS) that hold the rectangular mounting tab to the bottom of the worm housing. Three 10-32 x 1/2" socket head screws are provided with the plate. They go through the countersunk holes in the bottom of the plate and into the three holes in the bottom of the rotary table. Four socket head screws and T-nuts are provided for attaching the spacer using the T-slots in a Sherline machine slide. If attaching to a non-Sherline fixture, drill 10-32 holes in the proper locations and do not use the T-nuts.

The 1/2" thick aluminum mounting plate is made from cast material. Compared to extruded material, cast material is free of internal stresses. Drilling additional mounting holes to suit your own purposes will not cause the plate to warp.
