Important Update Regarding Sherline Products

We would like to share an encouraging development regarding the future of Sherline Products.
We are currently in discussions with an American manufacturer regarding the potential purchase of Sherline’s intellectual property and remaining inventory. The goal of this proposed acquisition is to preserve and revitalize the Sherline brand while providing continued availability of replacement parts, accessories, and machines for our valued customers.
As these discussions progress, we have agreed to temporarily suspend accepting new orders, effective October 19, 2026. This will allow us to preserve our remaining inventory while negotiations are underway.
Although no final agreement has been reached, we are hopeful that this opportunity will provide a positive path forward for the Sherline name and the customers who have trusted our products for more than five decades.
We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued loyalty during this transition. We will share additional information as soon as it becomes available.
Our greatest hope is that the Sherline legacy of quality, precision, and American craftsmanship will continue for generations to come.

About the Extended Wood Tool Rest Set

This set of wood-tool rests with extended bases accommodate the additional height needed when using riser blocks on the headstock and tailstock to work on larger diameter parts.

Many hobbyists use the Sherline lathe to turn wooden parts. In woodturning, the chisel-like tool is held by hand rather than in a tool holder used to cut metal. These adjustable 3″ and 5″ rests are placed near the work, and the cutting tool is rested on and moved across their surface to cut wood. The design of the tool rest support system allows excellent flexibility in adjustment for position. The set includes a base that mounts to the lathe table, plus both a 3″ long and 5″ long rest for the handheld lathe tool. The bases have been extended in length to work with the riser block set. Socket head screw and T-nut fasteners are included for mounting the base to the crosslide.

    Headstock Riser Block Set

    The standard Sherline lathe can accommodate parts up to 3.5" (90 mm) in diameter. However, there are times when you may need to work on larger pieces. The Sherline headstock spacer block increases the lathe’s maximum working diameter to 6" (152 mm), significantly expanding its capabilities.

    This set includes a 1.235" (31.37 mm) spacer block that fits beneath the headstock, along with a riser-rocker tool post to elevate the cutting tool accordingly. If you plan to turn parts between centers while using the headstock riser, you’ll also need a tailstock riser block to maintain proper alignment.

    Note: Although the spacer block allows turning parts up to 6" in diameter, the lathe’s motor power remains unchanged. This accessory is best suited for machining easy-to-cut materials or for occasional use when extra clearance is needed. If your work frequently requires this added capacity, upgrading to a larger lathe may be advisable.

    For those customers interested in turning larger diameters between centers, the Tailstock Riser Block will raise the tailstock to correspond with the riser block kit, allowing you an additional 1.235" (31.37 mm) of clearance. The Tailstock Riser Block has a two-part dovetailed base to allow for easy installation and secure locking to the bed.
