14″ CNC-Ready Mill
The 8-Direction CNC-Ready Milling Machine is one of the most versatile mills Sherline offers. In addition to standard X-, Y-, and Z-axis movement, this model provides five additional directions of headstock adjustment—allowing you to position the spindle for drilling or milling operations from nearly any angle.
17″ CNC-Ready Lathe
The Sherline 17″ CNC Lathe is a precision benchtop machine designed for small, detailed, and accurate turning applications. Built on Sherline’s proven 3.5″ x 17″ (90 mm x 430 mm) lathe platform, this CNC-ready version includes factory-installed stepper motor mounts on both the X and Z axes – allowing you to add your own stepper motors and controller for complete CNC control.
Sherline CNC-ready machines have factory-installed stepper motor mounts in place of the handwheels and are ready to apply 23-frame size stepper motors and computer numeric controls (CNC). They are not turn-key machines and cannot be used until stepper motors have been installed. All machines described as “CNC-ready” have stepper motor mounts but do NOT include stepper motors, computer, or CNC software.
Optional Addons
4-Axis CNC Driver Box
In designing our CNC systems, we fitted the driver board and power supply directly inside the PC. For users who’d prefer to build their own setup or use a different PC, we offer this complete driver box and power supply as a standalone solution.
Spindle Control Isolator Board
The spindle control isolator board controls the spindle speed via G-code in the Sherline/Acorn CNC controller. It works in conjunction with an external encoder that is mounted to your machine headstock.
External Incremental Rotary Encoder
The external encoder works with the Sherline/Acorn CNC Controller equipped with the optional spindle control isolator board (P/N 94310). For use with a Sherline machine, you must have a Headstock Pulley Mounting Kit.
Encoder Mounting Kit
Needed if you are buying our External Incremental Rotary Encoder. You can also order the Encoder Mounting Kit without an encoder if you prefer to supply your own encoder.
Acorn CNC12 Pro Software License Upgrade
A free version of Centroid CNC12 is included with each Acorn kit for setup use. However, it is strongly recommended that you purchase the pro license. NOTE: The software is board-specific.

Stepper Motors
Sherline stepper motors are NEMA 23, dual-shaft motors designed specifically for our CNC mills, lathes, and rotary tables.
