Important Update Regarding Sherline Products

We would like to share an encouraging development regarding the future of Sherline Products.
We are currently in discussions with an American manufacturer regarding the potential purchase of Sherline’s intellectual property and remaining inventory. The goal of this proposed acquisition is to preserve and revitalize the Sherline brand while providing continued availability of replacement parts, accessories, and machines for our valued customers.
As these discussions progress, we have agreed to temporarily suspend accepting new orders, effective October 19, 2026. This will allow us to preserve our remaining inventory while negotiations are underway.
Although no final agreement has been reached, we are hopeful that this opportunity will provide a positive path forward for the Sherline name and the customers who have trusted our products for more than five decades.
We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued loyalty during this transition. We will share additional information as soon as it becomes available.
Our greatest hope is that the Sherline legacy of quality, precision, and American craftsmanship will continue for generations to come.

Lathe Headstock Hard Stop Kit

Due to the case-hardening process, the hard stop rods may show distinct surface discoloration. This does not impact the quality of the rods and can be buffed out if desired

Product Description

Starting in August, 2015 every Sherline headstock now includes the holes to add an optional hard stop. The hard stop kit, P/N 40116 includes two steel rods and a knurled thumbscrew lock. The .242″ diameter steel rods are 4″ and 8″ long. A hole through the headstock base allows the hard stop rod to be set to contact the lathe crosslide, providing a hard stop for the Z axis during turning operations.

This hard stop can also be used in many instances on the mill headstock, as a hard stop for drilling depths.

For those who have an older Sherline lathe and want to add the hard stop, the kit includes instructions with dimensions on where your headstock case will need to be drilled to accept the rod and locking thumbscrew. Complete instructions are included.

If you don’t want to or don’t have the facilities to drill the headstock, it can be returned to Sherline and we will drill the holes for you for an additional charge. Call for pricing and a RMA # before sending your headstock.
