Important Update Regarding Sherline Products

We would like to share an encouraging development regarding the future of Sherline Products.
We are currently in discussions with an American manufacturer regarding the potential purchase of Sherline’s intellectual property and remaining inventory. The goal of this proposed acquisition is to preserve and revitalize the Sherline brand while providing continued availability of replacement parts, accessories, and machines for our valued customers.
As these discussions progress, we have agreed to temporarily suspend accepting new orders, effective October 19, 2026. This will allow us to preserve our remaining inventory while negotiations are underway.
Although no final agreement has been reached, we are hopeful that this opportunity will provide a positive path forward for the Sherline name and the customers who have trusted our products for more than five decades.
We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued loyalty during this transition. We will share additional information as soon as it becomes available.
Our greatest hope is that the Sherline legacy of quality, precision, and American craftsmanship will continue for generations to come.

Product Description

Using the Taper Removal Tool

Throughout the years, some customers have asked for a way to remove tapered tools like drill chucks, boring heads or the WW Collet Adapter from the spindle without having to hit the drawbolt with a hammer or use a knockout bar, fearing it might knock their headstock out of alignment. This simple removal ring screws onto the 3/4-16 thread on the Sherline headstock spindle nose. Unscrewing the remover pushes the #1 Morse holder out of the spindle.

What Is Included

Two slip washers are included. These help push straight down on the taper without rotating it, while breaking the taper loose. A special “C” shaped washer is also included to help remove drill chucks. Two Tommy bars are also provided.

    1/4″ Drill Chuck with #1 Morse Arbor

    The Sherline Milling Machine makes an excellent precision drilling machine. Accurate positioning of both the "X" and "Y" axes provide a simple way to locate holes, and, although the Sherline does not have a quill feed, the "Z" axis feed screw does give you micrometer accuracy for depth control. The drill chuck is similar to the tailstock chuck used with the lathe in that it is a 3/32" (2.4 mm) to 1/4" (6.35 mm) drill chuck mounted on a #1 morse arbor. The difference is that this arbor has been drilled and tapped for a drawbar. The drawbar prevents the arbor from working loose during use.

    NOTE: If runout of less than .003″ amount is required, collets should be used to hold the drill rather than a chuck. This chuck is NOT designed for lateral loads and should not be used for holding end mill cutters

    1/4″ Drill Chuck with 2 Arbors

    A drill chuck is probably the most important accessory you will need for your lathe. It will enable you to accurately centerline drill, ream, or tap any part mounted on the lathe. The part to be machined is chuck or collet mounted in the headstock. The tool is mounted in the tailstock chuck and fed into the part using the tailstock ram feed. Parts that are going to be mounted between centers can be center drilled this way. Other parts requiring a hole accurately drilled on-center can also be machined this way.

    The Sherline tailstock chuck is a precision 3/32" (2.4 mm) to 1/4" (6.4 mm) 3-jaw chuck complete with key. The chuck is fitted with a #0 Morse arbor for use in the tailstock. Also included is a #1 Morse arbor and drawbolt so the chuck can be used in the lathe or mill headstock as well.

    NOTE: If runout of less than .003″ amount is required, collets should be used to hold the drill rather than a chuck.

    3/8″ Drill Chuck with #1 Morse Arbor

    This chuck includes a #1 Morse arbor and drawbolt so that it can be mounted in the headstock of the lathe or mill. It will hold drills from 3/32" (2.4 mm) to 3/8" (9.5 mm) in diameter. If runout of less than .003″ amount is required, collets should be used to hold the drill rather than a chuck.

    NOTE: Because of its longer length and ability to hold longer 3/8" drills, this chuck is normally recommended for use on the longer 4400-series benchtop lathes.
