Welcome to Sherline's On-Line Catalog for Machinists and Hobbyists!

Hi, we're glad you stopped by to look at the Sherline on-line catalog. This site has been up and running since the end of 1995, and it has grown to the point where it would take about 1000 pages to print out everything we have made available to you here. Of course, not everything will be of interest to you right now, but remember that a lot of good information on machining is available here should you ever need to come back for it.

The first section will take you to the largest part of the site...our miniature machine tool section. We have manufactured the Sherline line of precision miniature machine tools since the early 1970's, and it is the heart of the Sherline product line. If you are new to machining, you may hear some terms you are not familiar with. Don't let that worry you, as the instructions that come with our tools are the most complete on the market, and using the tools is fun and easy. This section is the gateway to individual pages with a photo, description and price on every tool and accessory we make.

Speaking of instructions, we have posted instruction sheets for every one of our major tools and accessories for your edification and enjoyment. It was a time consuming process, as it has taken us over 20 years to compile all this information. It took a while to get them all reformatted for the web, but they're available now in your choice of formats. You can view them as a regular web page (.html) or as a .pdf document if you prefer higher quality images. You get real, "how to" instructions on the use of tools and accessories that will be helpful for machinists using all kinds of equipment, not just Sherline's. Check out the "SHERLINE Accessories" section. Each accessory listed has a link to a set of illustrated instructions. By the way, for $10 you can order a book called the Sherline Shop Guide which contains most of the instructions that will be posted here if you don't have a good printer or want higher resolution on the line art. Color photos and descriptions of each accessory can be found by going to the Shopping Information Section. Direct and secure on-line ordering is now available at www.sherlinedirect.com. You can also place an order direct from the factory by contacting Sherline. Your order will normally be shipped the same day if it is in stock and you call before noon Pacific time.

Visit the Resources section of this site for all kinds of information related to miniature machining. It is our goal to make Sherline's web site the most complete source of machining information available. Despite the small size of our tools, the information we have to offer usually applies to machining practices regardless of size. We hope the information you find here will help convince you to join the growing ranks of Sherline machinists world wide.

Sherline's other products like our EZ-Read Bridgeport dials, Sherline trailer tongue weight and suspended hydraulic scales are also referenced. Each of these products is made in our own factory with the same care and precision as our machine tools. If any of them fit your needs, you can buy them with confidence knowing they are manufactured to our high standards.

Tips for finding product information fast within Sherline's site

1. If you don't know a product part number, try Sherline's Google search box near the top of this page. Just type in the name of the accessory you want to find and the search feature will look through this site and give you references to pages containing that name.

2. If you know the part number for the accessory you seek (or have found it through the Google search), you can use the following address template to go right the page for that accessory. In your browser window type www.sherline.com/XXXXpg.htm where XXXX is the 4-digit part number. For example, www.sherline.com/3700pg.htm would be the information page for the P/N 3700 rotary table. There you will find a photo of the accessory, price and shipping weight information as well as a description of how the accessory is used. There will also be a link to the instructions for use of the accessory. If you want to go directly to the instructions for an accessory, the page name is usually the 4-digit part number plus the letters "inst.htm". Therefore, the instructions for the rotary table could be found at www.sherline.com/3700inst.htm. In most cases a .pdf version of the instructions is also provided. Just change "htm" to "pdf" in the address. We have tried to maintain these two file naming conventions to make it easy to find the information you need most.
