One week paid vacation time is offered after one year of employment and two weeks vacation after two years. By California law, the workplace is a non-smoking environment. We also comply with all OSHA health and safety regulations to provide a pleasant and safe workplace. For more photos of the facility and some of our machinery, see our PHOTO FACTORY TOUR. What we make...
The primary product made by Sherline is a line of small precision machine tools. Several models of 3.5" lathes, vertical milling machines and a complete line of chucks and accessories are produced almost entirely in-house. The machines are sold to both hobbyists and industrial users. Industrial versions of some of the small machine slides are marketed as well. In fact, a number of the machines and components we manufacture are used in our own plant to produce other parts. We also manufacture a line of hydraulic estimating scales. See our TOOLS page for more details on the machine tool line.

Sherline's plant is within sight of the Pacific Ocean.
The Vista Area...
Best of all, however, is the quality of the work environment. This includes not only our new 65,000 square foot plant, but also the surrounding area of North San Diego County. You would be hard-pressed to find a nicer location and facility anywhere. Vista has been noted several times on national news shows as having the "best overall climate in the United States". Due to the moderating influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean (visible from the plant), high temperatures normally average in the high 70's to low 80's during the summer and mid to upper 60's in the winter. Freezing temperatures are almost unheard of in this flower-growing area, and winter lows average in the high 40's to low 50's. You are minutes from beautiful beaches, an hour from Mount Palomar and an hour from the Anza-Borrego desert. Other mountain and ski resorts are about two hours away. Downtown San Diego is about 35 miles to the South and Los Angeles is about 90 miles to the North.
Housing is relatively expensive here because of the high demand to live in this area. Those who choose to live here find the cost to be a worthwhile tradeoff considering the climate and activities the area has to offer. As a general rule, the closer you live to the ocean, the higher the cost. More affordable housing can be found as you go Eastward toward the nearby communities of San Marcos or Escondido.
