#0 Morse Blank

SKU: 3051 Category:

Product Description

The Morse #0 blank is made from .75″ diameter free machining steel and is available so that you can make your own custom tool holders to fit the lathe tailstock. The billet end is 0.950″ long and 3/4″ in diameter. The proper #0 Morse taper is already machined onto the tapered end. You need only turn, drill, tap, thread or slot the blank to fit your special tooling needs. This blank is most often made into a tool holder for specific size center drills, drills or reamers so they can be changed rapidly in the tailstock when doing repetitive jobs that require multiple tailstock tool changes. The blank is drilled/bored to the tool size and a cross hole is drilled and tapped for a small set screw to hold the tool in place.

The arbor could also be threaded to accept a Sherline or non-Sherline chuck.* It is inexpensive and saves you the time of setting up to cut the #0 Morse taper yourself.

*NOTE: #0 M tailstock arbors are already available threaded 3/4-16 for Sherline 3 and 4-jaw chucks, threaded to accept 1/4″ or 3/8″ Drill Chucks,  or an adjustable tailstock holder with a #0 Jacobs male taper to allow 5/32″ Jacobs chucks to be pressed on.
